Prince Carl Philip of Sweden and his wife Princess Sofia are expecting their first child. The Swedish royal palace made the joyous announcement on Facebook, confirming that Sofia will give birth in the spring of next year.
"We are so happy and excited to announce that we are expecting our first child," the parents-to-be wrote in a statement. "We are very much looking forward to it."
The palace also revealed: "The birth is expected to take place in April of 2016. No changes in the schedule of The Prince Couple's public engagements are planned during the fall of 2015."

A beautiful photo of Carl Philip, 36, and his new wife Sofia was posted online, which showed the couple brimming with happiness.
The lovebirds have been together for over five years and made it official in June of this year, when they tied the knot in a spectacular royal wedding in Stockholm. Carl Philip and Sofia married in the royal palace's chapel, with the bride stunning in a lace wedding dress created by local designer Ida Sjöstedt.
Sofia, 30, has embraced her new role as a princess and has accompanied her husband on various engagements around Sweden.
Earlier this month the pregnant royal showed off her maternal side as she visited a refugee centre in Dalarna province, where Sofia originally hails from.

Before joining the royal family, the former model founded children's charity the Sofia Hellqvist Project Playground. The charity, which she established with a friend, aims to support underprivileged children in South Africa by providing meals, counsel and recreational activities.
Sofia was most recently pictured attending the christening of baby Prince Nicolas, Princess Madeleine and Chris O'Neill's son. Sofia showed no signs of a tiny baby bump just yet, opting to wear a radiant fuchsia dress.
She is not the only Swedish royal who is set to welcome a baby next year. Crown Princess Victoria, the 38-year-old future queen, is pregnant with her second child, who is due to arrive in March.
