Perhaps when Prince George and Princess Charlotte return from Canada, they can get this royal playdate in the diary!

Princess Madeleine of Sweden has admitted that she would "love" for her children Princess Leonore, two, and Prince Nicolas, one, to meet the young Cambridges.

Both royal families live in the UK. Prince William and Kate divide their time between Norfolk and London, while Princess Madeleine and her husband Chris O'Neill relocated to the capital last year. The Swedish and British young royals have yet to meet though.

"I would love [a playdate]," said Princess Madeleine

"I would love [a playdate]," Princess Madeleine told People at the World Childhood Foundation USA ThankYou Gala earlier this month.

"I'm sure we will cross paths – and who knows what we will do when we do!" she added.

No doubt if and when they do meet, Madeleine and Kate, both 34, will have an action-filled day with their toddlers. "We try to do a lot of activities because my little Leonore, she has lots of energy, so we have to keep her stimulated and busy," said Madeleine.

William and Kate, similarly, have admitted that their children are a handful. George is a "cheeky monkey," William has said in the past. The Duke also said he hoped the youngsters weren't "tearing up" Government House in Victoria, where they have been based during the royal tour.

"The little cousins, Leonore and Estelle, they're very close – they're more like sisters," said the princess

Despite Madeleine living abroad while the rest of her family are in Sweden, the princess said she still shares a strong bond with them.

"We've always been quite close – even though I've lived abroad – but when you have kids, it's an extra connection," said Madeleine, who has two siblings, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Carl Philip.

Victoria is also a mum-of-two – Princess Estelle, four, and Prince Oscar, whom she welcomed earlier this year with husband Prince Daniel. Meanwhile, Prince Carl Philip and his wife Princess Sofia became parents for the first time this year with the arrival of their son Prince Alexander in April.

"The little cousins, Leonore and Estelle, they're very close – they're more like sisters," Madeleine shared. "Victoria and I try very hard to make it so they really can see each other and play and have fun. Cousins are great – they are your friends, but they're family. They can support each other."
