The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall plan to spend Christmas in Gloucestershire this year.

HELLO! understands that Prince Charles, 72, and Camilla, 73, will be at Highgrove House for Christmas Day, but expect to have a chance to see the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor at some point. The Duchess will also see her family over the festive period.

It's understood that meetings may be socially distanced or outside to adhere to current government guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic.

It comes after confirmation that the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will celebrate Christmas "quietly" at Windsor Castle for the first time in over 30 years.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday: "Having considered all the appropriate advice, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh have decided that this year they will spend Christmas quietly in Windsor."

The monarch and her husband have traditionally celebrated the festive period with members of the royal family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk since 1988.

After the lockdown measures were eased over the summer, Camilla revealed her joy at finally being reunited with her grandchildren, telling an ITV reporter that it was "a great treat" to see them.

The Duchess is grandmother to five grandchildren from her first marriage to Andrew Parker Bowles.

Camilla married Andrew in 1973, and they had two children, Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes. Laura has three children, Eliza, and twins Gus and Louis, while Tom has two children, Lola and Freddy.

Charles is a grandfather to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's son, Archie.
