3. New mum Kate, who is renowned for her love of high street shopping, purchased a pair of £80 John Lewis Svetlana faux fur throws for the drawing room sofas. She has also been seen stocking up on serving plates in Zara Home and purchasing a rug in Chelsea
4. There are three kitchens in the new home – one for family on the ground floor and two for staff. While the family have housekeeper Antonella Fresolone on hand to help out at mealtimes, keen cook Kate is also expected to prepare a lot of the food
5. Kate, who has a degree in the history of art, is said to have found interior inspiration on a visit to Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark's home two years ago. The 31-year-old liked the way they had combined antiques with modern art in their state apartment
6. The Duke and Duchess have borrowed priceless antique items from the Royal Collection in the basement of Buckingham Palace to furnish their home which is around 300 years old. The couple are said to be keen to make the most of the original features.
