Laughter is a universal language. It's something that Prince Philip spread in abundance everywhere he went.

The Duke of Edinburgh was very well known for his sense of humour. He frequently left many members of the Royal Family in giggles and he also loved to share his quips and jokes with the countless members of the public he met.

It is said one of the things the Queen loved about her husband was his ability to make her laugh and bring a smile to her face. This has been captured in photographs over the 70 years the couple were married.

We don't know what the duke said in the images to make people laugh uproariously, but the good nature and smiling photos is infectious. While the world mourns the loss of Prince Philip, hopefully remembering his charm and humour will bring a small smile to people's faces.

Royals from around the world, celebrities and world leaders react to the death of Prince Philip

By Heather Cichowski

Prince Philip might not be the first name that comes to mind when one thinks of royal style, but the Duke of Edinburgh leaves a lasting legacy in menswear and shopping habits.

Like the rest of the Royal Family, he always flew the flag for British talent and design and supported local businesses and labels with his considered looks. These included Savile Row institutions in London.

As someone who had a military career, he also embraced military dress, and selected it for milestone moments in his life.

His style choices were always appropriate for the occasion, polished and quietly elegant. Philip's fashion complemented his wife, the Queen's, and together they were a magnetic pair.

The father of four was also a conscious shopper who invested in timeless pieces and wore them for decades. This is something that son Prince Charles has adopted. It's a mindset that was well ahead of its time. It is all the more relevant now that customers become more conscious of their shopping habits and the impact on the environment and how they can select from sustainable options, support local businesses and celebrate the best of craft.

With the Duke of Edinburgh's passing at the age of 99 on April 9 at Windsor Castle, he will leave behind many legacies, and his impact on fashion is something that won't be forgotten.

Looking back at Prince Philip's time in Canada through the years

By Heather Cichowski

Royals fans were devastated to learn Prince Philip had passed away at age 99 at Windsor Castle on April 9.

Royals from around the world and notable figures have shared their condolences with the Queen and the rest of the Royal Family. Members of the public are also expressing their sympathies and paying emotional tributes in an effort to process their grief. Since the news of the royal's death, people have started to step out to royal residences, including Buckingham Palace in London and Windsor Castle, to deliver flowers, notes and to pay their respects.

While the Royal Family is asking well-wishers to make donations in lieu of flowers, these tributes are still touching to see.

If you'd like to leave a comment for Her Majesty and the Royal Family, you can do so at the virtual book of condolences that has been set up on the family's official website.

Scroll through the gallery (or click through if you're on desktop) to see how the public in the United Kingdom is paying tribute to the late Duke of Edinburgh.
