Better than Beyoncé? The internet is going crazy for this incredible gymnast's dance routine

Move over Beyoncé Knowles! An American university student has become an overnight internet sensation after she impressed competition judges – and the internet – with the most bootylicious floor routine in the history of gymnastics. It really has to be seen to be believed!

Sophina DeJesus decided to experiment with the final performance of her senior year, and her bold move paid off when she went up against Utah. She can be seen combining slick hip-hop moves with perfectly executed flips and somersaults, while her team-mates sweetly mirror her dance moves from the sidelines.

A clip of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) gymnast being awarded a 9.925 for the routine has broken the internet, being viewed over 26 million times and racking up more than 440,000 Facebook shares – but some YouTube commentators aren't impressed… insisting she should have been awarded a perfect 10!

Sophina has admitted she had no idea it would have such a reaction and that she just "wanted to think of something to end senior year with a bang".

Speaking to Pac-12 Sports Report, Sophina said: "I went to this one dance studio in San Diego and Chris Urteaga [choreographer] was going a [hip-hop] dance class.

"So I watched it and I asked him, 'Can I put some of these moves in a floor routine?' and he was like, 'Yeah for sure'."

And it seems Sophina is as modest as she is talented, as she refuses to take full credit for her amazing moves.

She continued: "My sister is an amazing dancer so I was showing her some of the dance moves that I thought I should incorporate.

"She helped me come up with more choreography and blended it in, and it was amazing and I was so thankful to her."

Sophina has been reposting messages of support from fans and followers on Twitter, with some of them comparing her gymnastic moves to Beyoncé's appearance at the Superbowl.
