Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop makes Toronto the subject of its latest city guide - see the selections!

By Kathryn Kyte

Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle hub, Goop, just released its go-to guide to Toronto , a carefully curated mix of places to eat, drink, stay and play in The Six. The list includes more then 75 hotspots from across the city, such as coffee joints, late-night retreats, iconic museums and luxe boutiques. Goop’s city guide series is held in high regard, putting the spotlight on notable locales with a comprehensive scope that goes deep into the nooks and crannies of cool and noteworthy.

Gwyneth is the queen of effortless chic and healthy living, so including a spot like the Scarborough Bluffs, a haven for hiking and sunbathing, seems like a perfect fit. If you're more of an indoors kind of person, Goop recommends the Aga Khan Museum , the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario) or the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum).

When it comes to getting your coffee fix, the guide counts Chinatown's Dark Horse Espresso Bar as well as west-end gem Tampered Press and Boxcar Social, located down by Toronto’s harbourfront, among the best.

Those looking to shop until they drop will find a discerning selection on the list—from high-end fashion emporiums like Holt Renfrew to independent bookstores like Type Books, Goop retailer and natural beauty destination The Detox Market and even a retro video store called Bay Street Video. Also on the list is eclectic designer shop The Narwahl and its neighbouring high-end kid mecca Advice from a Caterpillar, plus ritzy Yorkville boutiques TNT and 119 Corbo.

No list is complete without the fuel to keep travellers on their feet exploring. The Toronto guide features a mix of casual and upscale venues to devour a wide range of fare, although some spots like Alo can be very hard to get into. Among the selected are the hearty and happening Kalendar restaurant, the BBQ eatery Electric Mud BBQ, the super swanky Ca Boulud and always-packed Bar Isabel.

As for bars and lounges, you’ll see the likes of Pray Tell and Civil Liberties, which both shake up creative cocktails, as well as popular date spots like Birreria Volo and The Rooftop Bar at The Broadview Hotel, which boasts one of the best views of Toronto.

Goop was founded by Gwyneth in 2008 as a newsletter of her recommendations and has since become a destination for all things clean and conscious, from fashion and food to wellness and beauty. Goop’s city guides include rundowns of places like Charleston, South Carolina; Santa Barbara, California; London, England and Paris, France. And now it also features one of our most beloved Canuck locales!

Another famous fan of the Canadian city is none other than the Duchess of Sussex, who lived in Toronto for seven years while filming Suits. We did a deep dive into the actress's favourite spots earlier this year, and there was definitely some overlap with the Goop guide!
