All-star basketball fans take to the court

The annual NBA All-Star game more than lived up to its name on Sunday, when a host of A-list bastketball fans turned out to see their favourite players on the court.

Pop singer Janet Jackson was out and about, making one of her first public appearances since her revealing performance at this year's Superbowl halftime show with Justin Timberlake.

Heiress Nicky Hilton arrived wearing an LA Lakers tank top, while her sister Paris - accompanied by Backstreet Boy Nick Carter - showed off pet pooch Tinkerbell, who was likewise sporting a Lakers jersey. The svelte pair mingled with a myriad of other celebs, including Denzel Washington, Naomi Campbell, Kirsten Dunst and Jack Nicholson, at the Los Angeles Convention Centre.

Fans of the game were treated to a rendition of the national anthem by Christina Aguilera as well as some spectacular basketball, as legendary players such as Shaquille O'Neill and Kobe Bryant took to the court. But the half-time show was equally breath-taking, as Beyonce Knowles descended from the ceiling on a platform to perform her hit single Crazy In Love.

And it was noted that most of the athletes spent the interval court-side, instead of in the locker room. "Our players wanted to see Beyonce and I couldn't blame them, so we made our half-time meeting brief," explained coach Rick Carlisle.

Among the other stars who turned out for the event were Lennox Lewis, P Diddy and Will Smith.
