The cast of Buffy the Vampire Slayer have reunited to celebrate the 20th anniversary since the show's creation – and to discuss their time on the hugely popular fantasy programme. The stars, including Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy), Alyson Hannigan (Willow) and David Boreanaz (Angel), also took part in a photoshoot for Entertainment Weekly.

Speaking about her time on the show, Sarah said: "I think as an actor you ultimately hope to do something that resonates, right? That people… like, what's your legacy? And I think for all of us here we have been a part of something that's bigger than us that still holds up and I mean it's all you can ever really hope for I think." The creator of the show Joss Whedon joked: "This is surreal. It is like a high school reunion but much worse because they all still look really great." Alyson revealed how meaningful the experience was to her. "It was the role of a lifetime," she explained. "I met the love of my life. And just to get to go to work every day and have Joss sort of train me - I’ll never have a better experience than that."

David, who went on to find success playing Booth in the hit drama Bones, added: "When you’re going through a really horrible part of your life, like your teenage years, you feel alone. And Buffy was a way to tell the audience you’re not alone." Emma Caulfield, who played Anya in the show, added: "It just touched on really basic human emotions, like a life blueprint. 'I don't have any friends. I feel isolated.' Those sort of core human emotions." Fans were quick to discuss the beautiful reunion snaps, with one writing: "Oh, don't mind me. I'll just be crying over these buffy reunion photos for the rest of my life." Another shared the article, writing: "HAVE I DIED? AM I DEAD? IS THIS HEAVEN?"
