Five days after the tragic death of beloved Canadian TV personality Christopher Hyndman, his husband and business partner, Steven Sabados, has expressed his deep sadness in an emotional tribute posted on his Facebook page.
In the short letter addressed to fans and well-wishers, Steven writes, "I, our families and friends, wish to express our deepest gratitude for the overwhelming expressions of tenderness, love and tribute in honour of my beloved Christopher. Our hearts are broken, but we find comfort knowing his generous, larger-than-life spirit lives on."
Christopher passed away suddenly on Aug. 3 at the age of 49. The following day, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) released a statement confirming the sad news, leaving fans and friends across the country devastated. The charming host of TV's Steven and Chris was a popular figure both on screen and off, having built his design career through a variety of avenues including the shows Designer Guys, So Chic and Design Rivals.
"From the moment I met Christopher, we went forward in life, side by side and shoulder to shoulder. He was my best friend, my confidante, my partner, my one love," wrote a heartbroken Steven, who had just returned from a relaxing holiday in Barbados with Chrostpher before the tragedy occurred. "Over 27 years, we built a beautiful life together; always remembered, always cherished."
Fellow Canadian designers, Drew and Jonathan Scott, took to social media to pay their respects to their friend, with Jonathan tweeting, "I'm heartbroken to hear that Chris Hyndman has died. Just a joy to be around & such a kind soul. You will be missed. Rest in peace my friend," His brother shared the sentiments, writing, "It saddens me to hear that Chris Hyndman from @CBC's @stevenandchris has passed. He was a great guy & will be missed."
