ET Canada host Cheryl Hickey on the work-baby balance

For ET Canada host Cheryl Hickey, research and planning are essential parts of the job. Even so, the blond beauty - who welcomed her second child, Nyla, in April - admits that there's a special thrill to moments that are impossible to prepare for.

That's why she's so excited about her Sept. 30 return to the show - and about kicking off ETC Live with Rick Campanelli and Roz Weston. "I love live TV," says Cheryl, 37, reflecting on the five special episodes set to air on Wednesdays (beginning Oct. 2). "It's a bit of a rush. Roz always comes out with something jaw-dropping."

Cheryl's life off-camera is also filled with surprises these days as she and her husband, producer-director Kevin Foley, are kept hopping by their new daughter and their son Jaxson, 3. Here, Hello! turns the tables on the seasoned interviewer.

Congratulations Cheryl! How is motherhood the second time around?
It's been really great! Nyla has great sleeping patterns. She's giggly. She's an amazing addition to the family.

Were you hoping for a girl?
You know, growing up I was a tomboy, believe it or not. Am I a little nervous about the teen years with a girl? Yeah. I remember I gave my mom a run for her money when I was a teenager. Laughs

How do you balance work and family?
My philosophy is, "You cannot have it all." That whole saying, is the biggest load of crap I've ever heard. It just puts unrealistic expectations on women. You have to just be gentle and kind to yourself. If you don't have family, you don't have anything. So as long as you keep that first in your mind, you're good to go.

How do you and your husband like to kick back?
We have date night. And we always have our shows. When the kids are in bed, we like Breaking Bad or The Newsroom. And I like watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians. It's my guilty pleasure. I love it! That's my thing. Him? Not so much.
